Aquarium de Paris and Aquarium Tropical 2026

Vast Ocean

This project raises a question behind the ethics of aquariums and life in captivity, whilst it is very well known that captivity is essential for conservation and educational purposes, the human desire to observe marine life in captivity has resulted in nearly one third of the world’s coral reef to be lost. Due to catching, handling and transport methods, up to 80 percent of coral fishes die before reaching an aquarium and up to 98 percent of fish die in captivity during their first year. It is our responsibility to stay educated and support spaces advocating for life responsibly and ethically.
